How the site works for Childminders:
The site is accessible on a membership
basis - there is an initial annual charge of £10 for registered
childminders. To advertise any vacancies childminders may have a
further £10 is required. When you register you will be asked to
complete an online form detailing the service you provide and any
vacancies you may currently have. These details will be uploaded onto
the website but is only accessible by other members (not prospective
parents!). Advertising banners will show current vacancies in a general
format.
When parents register those childminders with a vacancy will be
personally contacted to check if they would like to be considered. Only
with this permission will names and details be given to parents
directly. It is therefore vitally important that the information
childminders give is accurate and up-to-date.

About Childminders
Childminders are self-employed carers based
in their own home and must be registered with their local Health and
Social Services Trust. The purpose of registration is to protect
children, to provide reassurance to parents using childcare and to
ensure that the childminding service meets acceptable standards. Annual
inspections are carried out the Health and Social Services Trust on a
childminder and their home to ensure they are safe. References and
health checks are required, as are police checks on all individuals in
the household over the age of 10. A childminder is allowed to look
after up to 6 children - 3 children under 5 and 3 children over 5, the
total number should include their own children.
Childminders are self-employed and set their own rates, usually paid on
an hourly basis according to the service they provide and at a rate
negotiated with the parent.
